Known as the "Queen of the Blues" and "Queen of the Jukebox", Dinah Washington was first exposed to gospel music before she began performing in Chicago area jazz clubs at the age of 15. Washington continued to tour with various groups and releasing new material, but like many other music pioneers of the time, she succumbed to a drug overdose in 1963 at the age of 39. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 for her contributions to Jazz, R&B, Rock and Pop music. Scott 2730 Dinah Washington
