For the Beach Clean-Up issue the USPS chose a young child's depiction of a boy and girl cleaning of a sandy yellow beach with the help of their dog. Each year millions of tons of trash and plastic are dumped or deposited into the Ocean. Much of this material is non-biodegradable, and ensnares birds and sea creatures. Remembering to dispose of trash properly and recycle whenever possible reduces the amount of trash that washes into the sea, but taking the extra step volunteering for a beach clean-up can be a very rewarding experience.
