First played in Massachusetts in 1895, William Morgan invented the sport of Volleyball (called Mintonette at the time) as an indoor sport for those that did not want to play basketball. Instantly popular, Indoor Volleyball was to added to the Summer Olympics in 1964, and Beach Volleyball was introduced in 1996.
