#2985 - 32¢ James P. Johnson
Pianist and composer James P. Johnson was a pioneer of the stride style of jazz piano, and was responsible for the evolution of ragtime piano into jazz. Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Fats Waller cited Johnson as a major influence. His greatest composition was "Charleston", the theme song of the Roaring Twenties. Scott 2985 32¢ James P. Johnson
