Cyrenica Airmail - 1932 Unissued Mint Overprint

While Cyrenaica may not sound familiar, its capital Benghazi certainly does. An Italian colony until it was incorporated into Libya, many of its stamps were overprints of those of Italy or its colonies, including this one planned as part of a set in 1932. Originally held from release, a small number were sold in Rome in 1943 after the Axis lost control of the area. (Cyrenaica #C5)
