Wayzata Airmail - 1932 Mint Unissued Stamp

In 1932, a pilot wanted to be the first to fly a 44-passenger sea plane from Wayzata, near Minneapolis, to London via Newfoundland. However, he lacked two things: money and a plane. He approached the Newfoundland post office with the idea of issuing stamps to raise funds. Although some stamps were sold to collectors, the idea was ultimately rejected and these stamps, printed in Minneapolis, are the only reminder of this cancelled flight. (Wayzata Airmail)
