Indonesia #C1-13 First Airmails - 1948 Complete Mint NH Set of 13

During their struggle for independence from the Netherlands, Indonesia's government made arrangements with printers in Austria and the United States to produce this colorful and attractive airmail set showing its leaders, airplanes over the Indonesian countryside, as well as pilots and aircraft mechanics. Amazingly, these stamps were smuggled past a Dutch blockade and distributed to local post offices. (Indonesia #C1-13)
