#2940 - 55¢ Alice Hamilton

Order Pre-cut Mounts 22 x 25 mm - 40 per pack

As the first woman appointed to the faculty at Harvard, Alice Hamilton was a pioneer in toxicology and the study of how chemicals and metals react inside the human body. Her work would help shape future legislation designed to protect industrial workers and limit their exposure to harmful substances. While she made great progress for women and worker's rights, Hamilton was a strong proponent of adding tetraethyl lead to gasoline, an additive which would later be banned due to its detrimental effects on public health.
