John James Audubon was a French-American naturalist most famous for his work in ornithology, the study of birds. Born in what is now Haiti and raised in France, Audubon emigrated to the United States as a young man. He started his professional career as a businessman in Louisville, Kentucky but spent much of his time exploring the countryside documenting and drawing birds. His book "Birds of America" was a groundbreaking ornithological treatise. Scott 874 Audubon
