1 Barrel Beer Tax Stamp

After prohibition the IRS collected a tax of $8 per barrel from brewers. These large stamps from 1947 are the last ones and were printed on ungummed paper. Resembling paper currency, they are rarely found in mint condition, most were defaced by punching out large sections when used. United States # REA193
