2¢ Opening of the Panama Canal - US #398 Save over 40%

The 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition, held in San Francisco, was the greatest spectacle of its time.  Celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal and San Francisco's recovery from the devastating 1906 earthquake, it featured everything from the Liberty Bell to the latest electric marvels.  So great was this Exposition that the Post Office issued a set of stamps promoting it in 1913 - two years before its opening!
