Issued in 1913 to publicize the upcoming 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, this stamp pictures Vasco Nunez de Balboa who crossed the Isthmus of Panama and discovered the Pacific Ocean in 1513, claiming all land bordering the Pacific for Spain.
