#2756 - 29¢ Steeplechase
Steeplechase originated in Europe, where riders galloped horses across the fields, jumping streams, hedges and fences on their way to the finish line. The name is due to the fact that church steeples, standing high above the countryside, were used as points of reference to guide the riders along the course. The sport has since evolved and now takes place on a track with man-made obstacles and water hazards. Scott 2756 Steeplechase
