#2812 - 29¢ Edward R. Murrow

Pioneer newsman and television broadcaster, Edward R. Murrow came to prominence giving live radio reports during World War II from Poland, Italy and Great Britain. His signature signoff catchphrase, "good night, and good luck" was inspired by a popular phrase in England during the Blitzkrieg, when the bombing was heaviest during the night. Murrow is also well known for challenging and criticizing Senator McCarthy and the "Red Scare", eventually leading to his political demise. Scott 2812 Edward R. Murrow
