#725 - 3¢ Daniel Webster: Plate Block

A marble bust of Daniel Webster by Daniel Chester French was the basis for this stamp honoring the 150th anniversary of the birth of this New Hampshire native, one of the greatest lawyers of his time and an influential orator while in Congress and the Senate. He later served as Secretary of State under three presidents. In 1957 a Senate committee chaired by John F. Kennedy named Webster one of five greatest U.S. Senators. Scott 725 3¢ Daniel Webster
