First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson (1912-2007) traveled with her husband during his presidential campaign, and was dismayed at the sight of America’s infrastructure with regards to nature. It was through her campaigning that our roads were improved and beautification truly began. Instead of junkyards and billboards, motorists can be treated to blooming trees and wildflowers along our highways.
