1945 Mint Set of 2 Commemorative Sheets
In the waning days of World War II, the Soviet Army invaded Bulgaria and overthrew the Axis-backed monarchy headed by 8-year-old Tsar Simeon II. With Bulgaria liberated from German occupation, Liberty Loans were made available to rebuild the nation's infrastructure. These two commemorative sheets, issued weeks after V-E Day, publicize these loans and show symbols of its liberation and economic rebuilding. (#489-90)
