#4464 - 44¢ Oscar Micheaux
In an era where black filmmakers were going bankrupt, Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951) thrived by challenging the system and exposing racial inequality. Much of his work can be considered autobiographical, as Micheaux’s life took him in many directions and thus gave him perspective on a variety of lifestyles. His writings and films were often fraught with controversy, with demands for them to be edited, and in some cases, banned. Critics today, however, would refer to Micheaux as “a man ahead of his time.” Scott 4464 Oscar Micheaux
