The first holiday-themed US Forever Stamps are, fittingly, a series of evergreens. Evergreens are trees that do not shed their leaves during the winter or dry seasons, and remain green year-round. One of the first public Christmas trees was erected by German settlers in Pennsylvania in the early 1800s. Decorations were added and over time replaced with more efficient variations of themselves, such as the removal of dangerous candles in favor of electric lights.
