Assuming the Oval Office following FDR's passing, Harry S. Truman shouldered the weight of ending World War II and reconstruction following the War's end. Truman's first term was marked by his decision to use nuclear weapons against Japan, the founding of the United Nations, and the implementation of the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe.
