#1846 - 3¢ Henry Clay

Known to history as "The Great Compromiser", Henry Clay was a leading war hawk early in his career, strongly supporting the War of 1812. Along with Daniel Webster and John C. Calhoun, Clay was a part of the "Great Triumvirate", three of the most powerful Senators in U.S. history. More than any other person, Clay was successful in brokering compromises on the slavery issue. Scott 1846 Henry Clay
