#1858 - 18¢ George Mason
George Mason was a delegate to the U.S. Constitutional Convention and an outspoken supporter of explicitly stated rights within the U.S. Constitution. Because the Constitution did not originally include enumerated rights, Mason refused to sign the document. Mason's protests ultimately led to the first ten amendments to the Constitution, known collectively as the Bill of Rights. Scott 1858 George Mason
