#1848 - 5¢ Pearl Buck

The first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, Pearl S. Buck wrote "rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China." Though American born, Buck was raised in rural China and is described as a genuinely Chinese writer. Her novels "The Good Earth" and "A House Divided" are considered classics. In her later life, Buck became involved with Amerasian youth, founding the Welcome House and the Pearl S. Buck Foundation. Scott 1848 Pearl Buck
